The San Marcos Unified District defines discipline as behavior which permits students and staff to perform effectively in a school setting.

SCHOOL RULES

  1. Respect yourself and the rights and property of others.
  2. Follow directions from all school adults the first time they are given.
  3. Always be prompt and prepared to learn.
  4. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
  5. Keep attractive nuisances (gum, candy, toys, and dangerous objects) at home.
  6. Think Safety!
  7. "Be The Best You Can Be"

DRESS GUIDELINES

  1. Dress or hairstyles that are of a distracting nature or interfere with the study habits of students in school are not acceptable.
  2. Students may not wear or display clothing attire, jewelry,or materials that evidence membership in or affiliation with any gang.
  3. Any clothing or attire which is obscene, sexually explicit or suggestive, or which promotes the use/abuse of drugs, alcohol, or smoking cannot be worn to school or any school function.
  4. Baseball caps, visors, and sun-hats are allowed to be worn outside with the bill forward. They are not permitted to be worn indoors.
  5. Footwear must adequately protect the feet and not interfere with required school activities such as physical education classes. Shoes must have a back strap or back - no flip flops, clogs, strapless sandals, etc.
  6. Students may not wear makeup.
  7. Halter tops, strapless tops, or tops that do not cover the midriff are not permitted. Tank tops with large arm openings must be worn with a tee shirt underneath.

BICYCLES

Bicycle riders are expected to follow rules of safety to and from school and obtain a bike contract from the school office before riding a bike to school. These rules include:

  • Riders must be in third through fifth grade.
  • One person only on a bike.
  • Bicycles are to be walked on school premises and sidewalks in the parking lot area.
  • Bicycles must be parked in racks and locked.
  • Do not ride bikes on rainy days.
  • Students are not allowed to ride in the parking lot.
  • Use the crosswalks. Crossing guards are at Las Posas and Borden Road, and Borden and Camino Magnifico.
  • WEAR A HELMET! IT'S THE LAW.

SCOOTERS

Scooters must be folded up and carried on school grounds. They are to be locked up in the bike rack area during the school day.

SKATEBOARDS/ROLLER BLADES/HEELYS

Skateboards are not allowed at Paloma School. It is a parent decision to allow a child to use roller blades to get to school and home again. Skates must be removed before students come on school property. Students may not wear Heelys at school.
